Internship: Neville Public Museum

This blog will act as my means to record my experiences at the Neville Public Museum. I will be working as an Intern there from January until May of 2008 to satisfy my requirments through the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as well as my own academic development as this will allow me to work outside of the classroom. I will post a brief summary of my activities after each day of work and use this to reflect on my experiences.

I am finishing my fourth year at the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay. I will be graduating this Spring with a B.A. in History. I plan on attending Graduate School shortly thereafter. I am currently working on a research project which examines the evolution of America's "beer culture" over the last 30 years.

Day 15

Opening Day of WWI Exhibit

Today when I arrived I went right to work helping John hang the signs that people will see when they first enter the exhibit, basically giving a title to the exhibit. I helped him center and level the signs and he suspended them with wire from the pipes. Since Im so tall, they always ask me if I can reach things when they hang them, so that way if I can't, the chances of someone else reaching it is unlikely. I spent the most of the day with some buffing compound and tried to polish scratches out of the cases. It would have been easier to move the moon. I made a few touch ups with the paintbrush and did a final cleanup. Travor did a really good job putting this exhibit together. Everyone I talk to about it is really excited. I left at 5:00 to head to my Accountant to have my taxes done and I came back at 6:00 for the opening and Ellen met me there. It was nice for her to meet everyone I work with and I talk about her so much, all the guys could put a name to the face. Everyone seemed real impressed with the exhibit and I think Trevor was pleased.
