Internship: Neville Public Museum

This blog will act as my means to record my experiences at the Neville Public Museum. I will be working as an Intern there from January until May of 2008 to satisfy my requirments through the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as well as my own academic development as this will allow me to work outside of the classroom. I will post a brief summary of my activities after each day of work and use this to reflect on my experiences.

I am finishing my fourth year at the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay. I will be graduating this Spring with a B.A. in History. I plan on attending Graduate School shortly thereafter. I am currently working on a research project which examines the evolution of America's "beer culture" over the last 30 years.

Day 4

Today I spent the entire time back in Collections. I assisted Louise in cataloging all of the Prange figurines and wrapping them in Polyester bags and hauling them up on tall steel shelves until next year. I think she really enjoyed having someone who is tall help her out, because I didnt even need the ladder unless I was putting something on the top shelf near the ceiling. She also had me go a little out of order and store away all the figurines that belong on the top shelf before I left for my classes and I continued when I returned.

I saw something which was really cool, although unrelated to what I was doing. I am a huge fan of the Godfather trilogy and there was a scene in the first one where Michael is about to "whack" a Police Captain and a wiseguy from the Tattalia Family. Clemensa has Michael in his basement and shows him the gun he will use and has the revolver handle and trigger wrapped in a special tape which prevents fingerprinting, so when Michael drops the gun at the scene (since he wont have it on him if captured by Police) they can't link him to it. Anyway, there was a revolver on the shelf with the same style of tape job.....weird.
